Course Overview
Croatian is an Indo-European language primarily spoken in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Worldwide, the language is spoken by over five million people. It is one of the official languages of the European Union and the official language of Croatia.
This course will provide basic information about Croatian vocabulary, including Croatian grammar, sentence structure, and syntax. You will learn how to have conversations in Croatian and gain a strong foundation to continue learning the language and new vocabulary.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of:
• The Croatian alphabet and numbers, and pronunciation
• Meaning of familiar words and phrases, when listening
• Meaning of written familiar names, words, and simple sentences, when reading
• Meaning of simple spoken questions
• How to speak using simple phrases and sentences
• How to write short, simple phrases or complete forms in the Croatian language
• The foundations for continuing learning the language
